Pop-up colivings are the best-kept secret in the nomad world. Instead of a fixed location you visit year-round, these operators move between destinations — setting up house in a new city every few months. You get a curated experience, a ready-made community, and the thrill of a place that won’t exist the same way twice.
I’ve lived in (and run) pop-ups for three years now. Here are the ones worth your time and money in Europe this year.
Mediterranean
Casa Basilico — Italy & Portugal
Full disclosure: this is mine. But I’m including it because pop-up foodie coliving genuinely doesn’t exist anywhere else. We run month-long chapters in Puglia, Madeira, and beyond — with home-cooked Italian dinners, market trips, and the kind of spontaneous adventures that happen when 15 remote workers share a house. €800–€1,400/mo. If you care about food as much as WiFi, this is your spot.
Greek Escape — Crete, Greece
A luxury villa setup on Crete’s south coast with pool and bay views. Greek Escape runs seasonal pop-ups in Plakias — small groups, beautiful setting, and a wellness-leaning vibe that doesn’t tip into woo-woo territory. Great for anyone who wants Mediterranean life without the tourist chaos. €1,100–€1,800/mo.
Avnea Nomad Village — Crete, Greece
Also on Crete but a completely different energy. Avnea sets up under olive trees with an intentional-living approach — think mindfulness sessions, growth workshops, and deep community building. If you want more than just a desk and a bed, Avnea delivers. €900–€1,500/mo.
Atlantic Coast
Banama — Fuerteventura, Spain
Banama has been running surf-and-work chapters from the Canary Islands since 2020, and they’ve dialed the formula in tight. Twelve people, month-long stays, board rentals on-site, and a community that surfs together and eats together. It’s not cheap, but you’re getting a full lifestyle package in one of Europe’s best year-round climates. €1,540–€1,960/mo.
Coworksurf — Fuerteventura, Spain
The OGs of surf-and-cowork coliving — they’ve been at it since 2016. Coworksurf runs shorter chapters (4 weeks) across multiple destinations, including Fuerteventura. Smaller groups, solid work infrastructure, and a no-BS approach to combining waves and deadlines. €1,100–€2,500/mo depending on location and room type.
Northern & Central Europe
Château Coliving — Normandy, France
Yes, it’s a real castle. Château Coliving runs themed 2-4 week programs inside a medieval castle in Normandy — writing retreats, creative sprints, focused work sessions. Meals included, which is rare. The vibe is “monastery meets co-working space,” and honestly, if you’ve ever wanted to write code in a turret, this is your chance. €1,200–€2,000/mo.
Fjord Coliving — Hardanger, Norway
The wildcard on this list. Fjord Coliving runs 16-day retreats in the Norwegian fjords — glacier views, midnight sun (in summer), and the kind of silence that rewires your brain. Meals included, small group of 12. It’s premium-priced but genuinely unlike anything else on this list. €1,800–€2,500/mo. For the nomad who’s done Lisbon and Bali and wants something that actually feels different.
How to choose
Budget-friendly: Avnea and Casa Basilico offer the most value per euro, especially if you factor in meals and community programming.
Surf-focused: Banama and Coworksurf, no contest. Both in the Canaries, both built around the waves-and-WiFi lifestyle.
Something different: Château Coliving and Fjord Coliving. These aren’t your typical coliving-by-the-beach setups — they’re experiences you’ll remember years later.
Food-obsessed: Casa Basilico. I’m biased, but nobody else is building entire chapters around food culture.
The pop-up model means spots sell out fast and don’t come back the same way. If something on this list speaks to you, don’t overthink it. Check dates, check your calendar, and book. The worst that happens is you make 15 new friends in a beautiful place.
