Pitaya Coliving
Pitaya is the first coliving on Lanzarote — the volcanic Canary Island known for its otherworldly landscapes and consistent year-round warmth. A bohemian operation with lagoon views and a perfect 5-star rating across 47 Google reviews.
The Experience
Lanzarote’s lunar terrain, white-sand beaches, and perpetual sunshine provide the backdrop. Work happens in the coworking area with views over a lagoon, and free time fills with island exploration — the Timanfaya fire mountains, surf at Famara, wine tasting in La Geria’s volcanic vineyards. The bohemian aesthetic and small community attract creatives and independent thinkers.
The Space
Purpose-designed coliving space overlooking a lagoon in Arrecife. The coworking area prioritises natural light and views. Rooms are decorated in a warm, artisanal style that matches the island’s craft-first culture.
Who It’s For
Creatives and remote workers who want to escape the usual nomad destinations for somewhere genuinely different. Lanzarote is year-round warm, affordable, and still largely undiscovered by the coliving crowd.

The Vibe
Morning light floods the lagoon-view coworking space — work starts with that view. Coffee from the kitchen, then deep focus until lunch. Afternoons open up: surf at Famara, explore Timanfaya's fire mountains, or stay and work through the golden hour. Evenings are relaxed — communal cooking, wine from La Geria, and conversations on the terrace.
Surf day at Famara, wine tasting in La Geria's volcanic vineyards, hike the Timanfaya fire mountains, or take the ferry to Fuerteventura for a beach day.
Living in Lanzarote, Canary Islands
Lanzarote is the Canary Island that looks like another planet. Volcanic landscapes of black lava, red earth, and white-washed villages create a visual contrast you won't find anywhere else in Europe. César Manrique — the artist-architect who shaped the island — ensured that development respected the landscape, so there are no high-rises, no visual clutter, and an artistic sensibility baked into the built environment.
Arrecife is the capital — a working Spanish city rather than a tourist resort, which keeps prices honest: coffee 1-1.50 EUR, lunch 7-12 EUR, dinner 12-22 EUR. Famara on the northwest coast is the surf hub, with a long beach break and dramatic cliffs. La Geria's volcanic wine region produces Malvasía wines from vines growing in individual lava craters — it's a UNESCO-protected landscape. Year-round temperatures of 20-28°C and minimal rain make Lanzarote a genuine 365-day destination.
Timanfaya Fire Mountains
A national park of volcanic craters where the ground is still hot enough to grill food. The bus tour through the lava fields is surreal. About 25 minutes from Arrecife.
Surf Famara
A 6km beach break under 600m cliffs on the northwest coast. Consistent waves, surf schools for beginners, and the small village of Caleta de Famara with its laid-back surf culture.
La Geria Wine Route
Drive through the volcanic wine region where each vine grows in its own pit, sheltered by semicircular stone walls. Bodegas offer tastings for 5-10 EUR.

The Honest Briefing
Fly into Lanzarote Airport (ACE) — budget flights from all over Europe. The airport is right next to Arrecife, a 10-minute taxi ride (about 10 EUR). Rent a car — the island is small (60km long) and a car opens up everything. DIGI or Vodafone SIMs give good coverage.

The Pitaya Team
Founders
We opened Lanzarote's first coliving because this island deserves more than package tourism. The landscape is unlike anywhere else, the wine is unique, the surf is consistent, and somehow it's still under the radar for remote workers.

Common Questions
What's the WiFi like?
100 Mbps — stable connection in the coworking area overlooking the lagoon. Good enough for video calls and regular remote work.
What's included in the price?
Room, lagoon-view coworking, WiFi, communal kitchen, and common areas. Meals and activities are self-organized.
How do I get there?
Fly to Lanzarote (ACE) — budget airlines from most European cities. The airport is right by Arrecife, so it's a 10-minute taxi ride to Pitaya.
Is Lanzarote boring?
Only if volcanic landscapes, world-class surf, unique wine regions, and year-round sunshine bore you. The island is small enough to explore fully in a month, but interesting enough that people stay longer.
Do I need a car?
Recommended. The island is compact but spread out, and public transport is limited. Car rental is cheap — 15-25 EUR/day — and a car lets you surf Famara in the morning and explore Timanfaya in the afternoon.
