The Vibe
Morning starts with coffee on the rooftop garden, then focused coworking until lunch. Afternoons are split between the beach (Las Canteras is a 10-minute walk), community workshops, or exploring La Isleta. Evenings bring group dinners using locally sourced ingredients or drinks along the Mesa y Lopez strip.
Hike Roque Nublo in the island's volcanic interior, surf at El Confital, or take a day trip to Maspalomas dunes in the south.
Living in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Las Palmas has been a top-tier digital nomad city for years, and for good reason. Year-round temperatures between 20-28°C, a 3km urban beach (Las Canteras) that's genuinely world-class, fast fibre internet across the city, and a cost of living that undercuts mainland Spain.
La Isleta, where EcoIsleta is based, is the neighbourhood at the northern tip of the city — a former fishing quarter with a working-class soul, colourful street art, and local bars where a beer costs €1.50. It's walkable to Las Canteras and the commercial centre but feels like its own village. The surf break at El Confital, off the tip of La Isleta, is one of the best in the Canaries.
The nomad community here is large and well-established. Coworking spaces, nomad meetups, and networking events happen weekly. Grocery shopping at Mercadona or HiperDino is cheap, and the Vegueta old town has proper restaurants and weekend markets. Direct flights connect Las Palmas to most of Europe in 4 hours.
Playa de Las Canteras
A 3km golden sand beach in the middle of the city with a natural reef that creates a calm lagoon. Sunset from La Puntilla end is free entertainment.
Vegueta old town
The colonial quarter with the cathedral, Casa de Colon (Columbus museum), and a Sunday morning market with local cheese, wine, and crafts.
Roque Nublo hike
The iconic volcanic rock formation in the island's centre, reachable in about 45 minutes by car. The hike is moderate and the views stretch to Tenerife on clear days.
