Coliving in Laconi, Sardinia, Italy
Treballu · Village immersion coliving in restored Sardinian stone buildings
The Home
Treballu
Treballu is a coliving in restored historic stone buildings in Laconi, a village in the interior of Sardinia. This is deep Italy — Sardinian language, pastoral landscapes, slow food, and a pace of life that hasn’t changed much in centuries.
The Experience
Forget the Costa Smeralda. Interior Sardinia is a different world: cork forests, shepherd culture, ancient nuraghi, and some of the best food in the Mediterranean — from local cheeses and cured meats to fresh pasta and cannonau wine. Treballu integrates residents into village life rather than insulating them from it. The community is small and genuine.
The Space
Historic stone buildings restored with care, combining traditional architecture with modern coworking infrastructure. The village of Laconi sits in a lush, mountainous part of Sardinia with parks, waterfalls, and easy access to both the east and west coasts.
Who It’s For
People who want the real Italy, not the tourist version. Especially good for writers, designers, and anyone whose work benefits from quiet, beauty, and cultural depth at prices far below northern Europe.

The Vibe
Mornings are quiet — espresso from the moka pot, then settle into the coworking space in the stone building. Lunch might be fresh pasta from the village bakery. Afternoons are for work or exploring the surrounding countryside. Evenings bring communal dinners with local wine and long conversations.
Beach days on Sardinia's east or west coast (both about an hour), exploring nuraghi ruins, or village festivals with traditional music and food.
Living in Laconi, Interior Sardinia
Laconi is a village of about 1,600 people in the interior highlands of Sardinia — a place where Sardinian is still spoken daily, shepherds move their flocks through cork forests, and the nearest traffic light is probably 30 minutes away. This is about as far from the Costa Smeralda as you can get while staying on the same island.
The village sits at 550m elevation, surrounded by forest and the Parco Aymerich — a 22-hectare botanical garden with waterfalls and ancient trees. The climate is mild: warm summers without coastal humidity, and winters that are cool but rarely cold. The interior highlands have their own microclimate and a completely different feel from the coast.
Sardinia's interior is one of the world's Blue Zones — regions where people live unusually long lives. The diet is heavy on pecorino cheese, cannonau wine, fava beans, and porceddu (spit-roasted suckling pig). A full meal at a local agriturismo costs EUR 15-25 with wine. Both the east and west coasts are about an hour's drive, giving you beach access without tourist-coast prices.
Parco Aymerich
A 22-hectare botanical park right in Laconi with waterfalls, centuries-old trees, and the ruins of a medieval castle. Free entry, daily escape.
Su Nuraxi di Barumini
UNESCO World Heritage nuraghe — a massive Bronze Age stone complex an hour south. The best-preserved example of Sardinia's mysterious ancient culture.
East coast beaches
Cala Luna, Cala Goloritzé, and Cala Mariolu — dramatic limestone coves with turquoise water, about 1-1.5 hours by car.

Common Questions
What's the WiFi like?
100 Mbps — surprisingly solid for a village this size. The coworking space has the best connection. Interior Sardinia's internet has improved significantly.
What's included in the price?
Accommodation in restored stone buildings, coworking access, utilities, and cleaning. Meals are not included but local food is affordable and exceptional.
Do I need a car?
Yes, absolutely. Interior Sardinia has minimal public transport. Rent from Cagliari or Olbia airport — EUR 15-25/day for a small car.
How remote is it really?
Laconi has a pharmacy, grocery shop, bars, and restaurants. It's a functioning village, not wilderness. But the nearest city (Oristano) is 40 minutes away, and the beaches are about an hour.
When's the best time to visit?
May-June and September-October are ideal — warm, dry, and green. July-August are hot. Winter is quiet but mild enough for comfortable stays.
