The Vibe
Early risers catch the morning surf, then it's coworking with ocean views until lunch. Afternoons are for second sessions, yoga on the terrace, or exploring the village. Evenings revolve around rooftop sunsets, shared tagines, and tea.
Day trips to Paradise Valley, exploring Agadir's souk, or longer excursions to the Sahara edge. Fridays are quiet — it's the Moroccan weekend.
Living in Taghazout, Morocco
Taghazout is a fishing village turned surf town on Morocco's Atlantic coast, about 20 km north of Agadir. The waves are the headline — Anchor Point, Panoramas, Hash Point, Killer Point — a string of world-class breaks within walking or driving distance. The surf season peaks from October to April, but there's rideable swell year-round.
Beyond the surf, Taghazout has maintained more character than many similar towns. You'll still see fishermen hauling boats up the beach in the morning, cats outnumbering tourists in the alleyways, and the call to prayer punctuating the day. The village has grown its cafe and restaurant scene significantly, but it hasn't lost its Moroccan identity.
Costs are remarkably low. A tagine lunch costs MAD 30-50 ($3-5), a fresh juice MAD 10 ($1), and rent for a local apartment starts around $300/month. Agadir, 20 minutes south, has supermarkets, banks, and anything the village lacks. The weather delivers 300+ days of sunshine with winter temperatures around 18-22°C.
Surf Anchor Point
Morocco's most famous right-hand point break. Works best on a north-northwest swell in winter. Rentals from $5/day, lessons from $25.
Paradise Valley
A gorge with natural swimming pools surrounded by palms and red rock, 30 minutes inland. Bring lunch — it's an all-day thing.
Agadir souk and kasbah
The rebuilt souk has spices, leather goods, and argan oil at good prices. The hilltop kasbah ruins give panoramic views over the coast.

Common Questions
What's the WiFi like?
50+ Mbps — solid for Morocco and fine for video calls. The dedicated coworking space has the strongest signal. Don't expect 200 Mbps — this is a surf village, and the internet works but it's not fibre.
What's included in the price?
Room, coworking access, ocean-view terrace, utilities, and cleaning. Meals and surf equipment are extra — though both are very affordable locally.
How do I get there?
Fly into Agadir (AGA), then take a grand taxi to Taghazout (20 min, $20) or local bus 32 ($0.70). Ryanair and EasyJet serve Agadir from many European cities.
Can I drink alcohol in Taghazout?
Morocco is Muslim-majority. Alcohol is available at some restaurants and in Agadir, but the village itself is mostly dry. Carrefour in Agadir has a liquor section.
When's the best time for surf?
October to April for the biggest, most consistent swells. Summer is smaller but still surfable, with warmer water and fewer crowds.
