The Vibe
Morning routine might be yoga or an ice bath (both offered), then into the ergonomic coworking space. Lunch is either self-made in the kitchen or at one of Olhão's market restaurants. Afternoons alternate between focused work and exploring the coastline. Once a week, the family dinner brings everyone together — it's the social anchor of the week.
Beach days on the Ria Formosa barrier islands, cliff hikes along the Algarve coast, day trips to Tavira or Lagos, or the Olhão fish market on Saturday morning.
Living in Algarve, Portugal
The Algarve gets 300+ days of sunshine a year, and it's not just marketing — the southern Portuguese coast is genuinely one of Europe's warmest and driest regions. The coastline alternates between dramatic golden cliffs, hidden coves, and long sandy beaches. Inland, it's rolling hills, cork oak forests, and whitewashed villages.
Faro is the regional capital with an airport and university energy. Olhão, just east, is a working fishing town with one of Portugal's best covered markets — stalls piled with fish, shellfish, cheese, and produce. The Ria Formosa lagoon system stretches along the coast with barrier islands accessible by ferry. For remote workers: coffee 0.80-1.20 EUR, lunch 7-12 EUR, dinner 12-22 EUR. The Algarve is more affordable than Lisbon, sunnier than anywhere else in Portugal, and increasingly popular with nomads who've done the Lisbon circuit.
Ria Formosa Islands
Take the ferry from Olhão to Ilha da Culatra or Ilha Deserta — barrier islands with pristine beaches, no cars, and excellent seafood restaurants on the sand.
Benagil Sea Cave
The Algarve's most famous sea cave with a skylight in the ceiling. Kayak or paddleboard from the beach, or take a boat tour. About 45 minutes west of Olhão.
Olhão Market
Two covered market halls on the waterfront — one for fish and shellfish, one for fruit and vegetables. Saturday mornings are the most lively.

NOS or Vodafone SIMs from any phone shop — about 10 EUR for a month. Having a car is helpful for exploring but not essential for daily life in Olhão/Faro.

The POMAR Team
Founders
We built POMAR around rituals — the weekly dinners, the morning routines, the ice baths. Remote work can feel unstructured, and these rhythms give people an anchor. The Algarve sun doesn't hurt either.

Common Questions
What's the WiFi like?
200 Mbps fibre — fast and reliable. The coworking area has ergonomic desks and is designed for focused work.
What's included in the price?
Room, coworking access, WiFi, weekly family dinner, yoga, ice baths, and curated experiences. Regular meals beyond the weekly dinner are self-organized.
How do I get there?
Fly to Faro (FAO) — budget flights from all over Europe. Taxi or Uber from the airport takes 15-20 minutes.
What's the difference between the Faro and Olhão locations?
The hillside retreat near Faro is quieter and more rural — think countryside serenity. The Olhão pop-up is in the town center with markets, restaurants, and waterfront walkable from the door.
Is the Algarve just for retirees?
That reputation is 10 years out of date. The western Algarve and towns like Olhão have attracted a younger, creative crowd. The nomad scene is growing fast, and the infrastructure (fibre internet, affordable dining, direct flights) supports remote work perfectly.
