Coliving in Lisbon, Portugal
Outsite · A global network of remote-work properties with community programming
The Home
Outsite
Outsite is one of the most established coliving networks in the world, operating 50+ properties across Europe, the Americas, and beyond since 2015. Its membership model is designed for remote workers who want a reliable home base in multiple cities without negotiating separate leases or hunting for coworking day passes.
What It Is
Outsite combines boutique accommodation with dedicated coworking space and a vetted community of remote professionals. A single annual membership unlocks access to all locations — from surf towns and coastal retreats to urban apartments — giving members the flexibility to live and work wherever they want, on their own schedule.
The Experience
Outsite properties run weekly community events including skill-shares, social dinners, local excursions, and professional workshops. The atmosphere is intentionally low-pressure: guests are not required to participate in programming, but the social infrastructure is there for those who want it. The community spans 4,000+ members, so new arrivals often find familiar faces at a new location.
The Space
Properties range from urban apartments in capital cities to surf lodges near the ocean, but every location follows the same standard: ergonomic workspaces with fast Wi-Fi, private furnished rooms, and shared common areas for cooking and relaxing. Dedicated coworking areas are separate from living spaces, which makes it easier to maintain a genuine work routine.
Who It Is For
Outsite suits remote workers who travel frequently and want consistency across destinations — the same booking process, the same quality baseline, and access to a community that travels similarly. Stays start at one week, making it workable for short rotations or extended stays. Members who move between locations several times a year typically get the most value from the annual membership model.
Location Highlights
The Outsite network covers a wide range of destination types, including coastal surf locations, historic European city centers, and mountain retreats. Current active locations include Lisbon and Amsterdam, with the broader network extending across Portugal, Spain, France, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the United States. For members who want to explore multiple countries in a single year without rebuilding their workspace from scratch each time, the network coverage is a practical advantage.

Workspace
Work with a Global Network (50+ Properties) Rhythm
Fiber connection · 100+ Mbps
Every location has ergonomic workspaces with fast Wi-Fi, separated from living spaces to maintain a genuine work routine.
The Vibe
The rhythm is more independent than group-driven. Most guests work from the dedicated coworking area during the day, break for coffee or lunch with whoever's around, and join organized events a couple of evenings per week. The community programming exists but never feels mandatory — you can be as social or as focused as you want.
Weekly events range from skill-shares and social dinners to local excursions. Weekends at coastal locations often involve surf, kayaking, or beach hangs. Urban properties organize neighborhood walks and local market visits.
Living in Global Network (50+ Properties)
Outsite runs 50+ properties across Europe, the Americas, and a few spots in Asia. The current featured locations are Lisbon and Amsterdam — two cities with deep remote work cultures and reliable infrastructure.
Lisbon needs no introduction for nomads at this point. The Outsite property there puts you in the thick of the city's café-and-coworking scene, with neighborhoods like Santos, Príncipe Real, and Cais do Sodré all within walking distance. Living costs are moderate for Western Europe — expect 10-15 EUR for a solid lunch, 2-3 EUR for a coffee, and 300-350 EUR/month for groceries. The weather cooperates about 9 months of the year.
Amsterdam is pricier but justifies it with world-class cycling infrastructure, a dense cultural scene, and direct flight connections to basically everywhere. A coffee runs 3-4 EUR, lunch is 12-18 EUR, and groceries land around 350-400 EUR/month. The canal district is walkable and beautiful, and there's a coworking culture that extends into the cafés. Summers are spectacular; winters require a good rain jacket and some determination.
Lisbon's Tram 28 Route on Foot
Walk the tram route through Alfama, Graça, and Estrela instead of cramming into the tram. Same views, no crowds, and better photo opportunities.
Amsterdam's Jordaan District
The old artisan quarter is now the city's best neighborhood for independent shops, brown cafés, and people-watching along the canals.
Cascais Coast (from Lisbon)
A 30-minute train ride to a coastal town with beaches, a marina, and the windswept cliffs of Cabo da Roca — continental Europe's westernmost point.

What Guests Say
Stayed here with my daughter as she was working. This place is fabulous, esp the community they create for single people. Cafe down stairs was perfect for me to work in as well. Awesome concept
Shared a 2 twin room with a friend. Overall, for the price (one of the cheapest private rooms in Lisbon), it was a good experience - exceeding my expectations. Room was clean and reasonably spacious with a balcony and a fan. We kept the door open anytime we were in the room to cool and help with air
I was just passing by this cute coffee shop in Cais do Sodre. I got in to buy a cup of macchiato with oat milk to go. Luckily I was attended by Esperanza. To my surprise she was also Chilean as me which made our encounter funnier and nostalgic. I left the place with a smile upon my face. However,
Really good place and coworking. The appliances in shared area are really worn out (laundry is literally falling apart in front of you). There are some loud clubs or cafes nearby, so, it can get loud at night. But overall, I loved the place.
The Honest Briefing
For Lisbon, fly into LIS and take the metro to the city center in 20 minutes. For Amsterdam, Schiphol (AMS) connects to Centraal Station in 15 minutes by train. Both cities have excellent public transport — you won't need a car. Get a local SIM or eSIM before arrival; Vodafone works well in Portugal, KPN or Lebara in the Netherlands.

Common Questions
What's the WiFi like?
100+ Mbps fiber at every location. The coworking area is separated from living spaces, so bandwidth isn't shared with Netflix streamers in the lounge.
What's included in the price?
Furnished private room, dedicated coworking access, weekly community events, and shared common areas including kitchen. Meals are not included.
How does the membership work?
An annual membership unlocks access to all 50+ locations. You book and pay for stays individually, but members get discounted nightly rates. The membership pays for itself after about 2-3 weeks of bookings.
What's the minimum stay?
One week. This is shorter than most colivings, which makes Outsite practical for people who move frequently or want to test a location before committing to a longer stay.
Can I bring a partner or friend?
Yes — most properties offer private rooms that can accommodate two. Pricing is typically per room, not per person, so sharing makes it even more affordable.
