NomadGao

NomadGao is India’s best-known coliving for digital nomads and remote workers, operating community spaces in two of the country’s most beloved locations: Anjuna in Goa and Dharamkot in Himachal Pradesh. Founded in 2019, it combines reliable infrastructure with a strong focus on community, local experiences, and the kind of belonging that is hard to find in generic hostels or serviced apartments.

What It Is

NomadGao operates two distinct coliving and coworking properties — one coastal, one in the mountains — built specifically for remote workers who want to experience India without giving up productivity. At NomadGao Anjuna, two properties (Secret Garden and Vila Nova) sit in the heart of Goa’s most characterful neighbourhood, with rooftop workspaces beneath mango trees, a lush garden, and indoor Zenspace coworking. At NomadGao Dharamkot, guests work from a stunning rooftop indoor-outdoor coworking space at 2,100 metres elevation in the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas, with unobstructed views of snow-capped peaks. Both locations run coliving and coworking alongside organised retreats and team offsite programmes.

The Experience

Community is the explicit organising principle at NomadGao. Daily life combines deep work — ergonomic seating, fast Wi-Fi, power backup, and quiet indoor spaces — with a social and experiential layer designed to help guests connect with each other and with the destination. Community events range from skill-sharing sessions and brainstorming sessions to local treks, cooking experiences, and cultural outings. NomadGao’s community managers curate local experiences that go well beyond what independent travellers typically access. The NomadGao Passport — a membership product — gives regular guests multi-destination access, community privileges, and local discounts at cafes and wellness studios.

The Space

Accommodation across both properties runs to private rooms designed for long-term comfort, not hostel bunks. Coworking is available in multiple configurations — Goa’s rooftop desks amid garden canopy versus Dharamkot’s panoramic mountain-view workspace — with fast internet and power backup as standard at both. The properties are well-maintained and designed with the multi-week or multi-month guest in mind. Weekly and monthly stays are available.

Who It Is For

NomadGao appeals to remote workers who want to experience India as more than a stopover: people drawn by the culture, landscape, and low cost of living but who want the stability of a community rather than solo travel uncertainty. It works particularly well for those new to India who benefit from the local knowledge and community support, and for experienced India travellers who want a base with productivity infrastructure. Remote teams also use NomadGao for retreats, taking advantage of the dedicated team spaces in both locations.

Location Highlights

Anjuna in Goa sits on the state’s bohemian north coast, blending a long-established traveller culture with an increasingly sophisticated food and creative scene. Dharamkot, just above McLeod Ganj in Himachal Pradesh, offers a unique cultural environment shaped by the Tibetan Buddhist community, spectacular Himalayan trekking, and a pace of life that encourages deep focus. Both destinations are among India’s most popular with international remote workers and offer visa-friendly entry for most nationalities on a six-month tourist visa.

The Vibe

In Goa, mornings start on the rooftop workspace under mango trees with chai and breakfast from a nearby café. People work through the morning, break for lunch at one of Anjuna's cheap restaurants — thali for ₹150, fresh juice for ₹80. Afternoons split between deep work in the Zenspace indoor coworking and beach time at Anjuna or Vagator. Community events happen most evenings — skill shares, brainstorming sessions, or just cooking together. In Dharamkot, the rhythm shifts to mountain pace: sunrise views of the Dhauladhar range, focused work from the rooftop, and afternoon treks through rhododendron forests.

Weekends in Goa mean scooter trips to hidden beaches, Saturday night markets at Arpora, or exploring the Portuguese-era Old Goa churches. In Dharamkot, weekends are for treks — Triund, Indrahar Pass, or exploring McLeod Ganj's Tibetan monasteries and momos stalls.

Living in Anjuna, Goa & Dharamkot, Himachal Pradesh

Anjuna is Goa's creative epicenter — the neighborhood where the trance parties started in the 90s has matured into a hub of cafés, boutique shops, and a growing remote work scene. It's not the sanitized beach resort Goa; it's the Goa where you rent a scooter for ₹300/day, eat fish curry rice for ₹200, and stumble into a live music night on a Tuesday. The beach is a 10-minute walk from NomadGao's properties.

Dharamkot sits at 2,100m in the Himalayas, perched above McLeod Ganj — the seat of the Tibetan government in exile. The air is clean, the views are absurd, and the pace is intentionally slow. It's a village of maybe 500 people, a handful of cafés, and an unreasonable number of yoga studios. The Dalai Lama's temple is a 20-minute walk downhill.

For remote workers, India's cost of living is the obvious draw — you can live well on €500-700/month including accommodation. But the real value is the depth of experience. Both destinations offer cultural richness that most nomad hubs can't match, and NomadGao's infrastructure (power backup, fast internet, community management) solves the reliability problems that keep many remote workers away from India.

Anjuna Flea Market & Saturday Night Market

The Wednesday flea market is a Goa institution — spices, clothes, jewelry, and chai. The Saturday night market at Arpora adds live music, food stalls, and a proper party atmosphere.

Triund Trek from Dharamkot

A 9km trek from the village to a ridge at 2,850m with 360-degree views of the Dhauladhar range. Doable in a day, better as an overnight camp.

Old Goa Heritage Walk

UNESCO-listed Portuguese churches and convents from the 16th century — the Basilica of Bom Jesus houses the remains of St. Francis Xavier. 30 minutes from Anjuna by scooter.

Best for a low key relaxed stay at Anjuna while still having awesome wifi connectivity if your working remotely. The in-house restaurant (Sheilla's kitchen) is a hidden gem amazing food especially if you like vietnameae cuisine and superb service.

★★★★★Mar 2026

Love this space for its layout, location and pricing. For those looking for a room to come back to just rest and spend more time in excursions and would like to return to a cozy goan neighbourhood kinda a vibe but with the privacy of a hotel/lounge/resort - go for Villa Nova.

★★★★★Jan 2026

Really nice place to stay and work. Had gone initially for 3 days, but ended up extending to a week. Saal is amazing, very prompt response and helpful. Chetan Bhai, the caretaker, was also so helpful for every thing I asked. The vibe is homely, nothing put on. The property is next to the main road s
