Coliving in Tepoztlán, Morelos, Mexico
NiDO Tepoztlán · Four hand-decorated private rooms and a rooftop facing the Tepozteco cliffs, 80 km from Mexico City
The Home
NiDO Tepoztlán
NiDO Tepoztlán is a shared house in Ixcatepec, a barrio of Tepoztlán in the Mexican state of Morelos. Seva, Gabriel, Leni and Kristina run it, and they call it “a place for strange birds.” It has four private rooms, a shared kitchen, two lounges, a garden, and a rooftop that looks out at the Tepozteco cliffs.
What It Is
You can book any of the four rooms by the night, the week or the month. The price drops the longer you stay: 20% off from 7 nights and 55% off from 28 nights, which brings a month in most rooms to 8,100 pesos, about €383. The website lists a fifth room as coming soon. The hosts speak Spanish, English and Russian, and NiDO has a 5.0 rating on Google from nine reviews.
The Experience
NiDO doesn’t run a programme. In the hosts’ words, “Your room is private. The house is shared.” Now and then they put on events and announce them on Instagram, such as game nights, music in the garden, a solstice festival in June and an autumn party in October. The rest of the time, you set your own schedule.
The Space
Each room has a name and its own hand-carved, hand-painted or hand-woven details; a guest review on NiDO’s website credits the decoration to one of the owners, who is an artist. Loro Loco has a private bathroom and a desk, Trébol Azul a private bathroom and a small balcony, and Momo Toh a private bathroom and its own terrace. Ave Suave uses a bathroom across the hall. For work there’s a desk under the stairs and a big table upstairs. The downstairs lounge has velvet sofas and brick arches, and the rooftop faces the hills.
Who It Is For
It suits remote workers who want a small, low-cost base near Mexico City and don’t need a full coworking space. Because you can book a single night, it’s also a way to try Tepoztlán before committing to a month. You won’t need a car. If your work depends on upload speed, ask the hosts for a speed test first, since the website doesn’t list one.
Location Highlights
NiDO faces the Casa de la Cultura in Ixcatepec, 35 minutes on foot from the centro or 10 by combi. The El Tepozteco pyramid sits on the cliffs above town, a climb of 40 minutes to an hour from Axitla, while the Cerro Youalinchan trail starts in the barrio itself. For a swim, the YMCA Camohmila pool is open mornings for 80 pesos an hour. Cuernavaca is about 30 minutes by taxi.

Work with a Tepoztlán, Morelos Rhythm
WiFi covers the house, and the hosts say it's set up for video calls and remote work. You can work at the big table upstairs, at the desk under the stairs, or at the desk in your room if you book Loro Loco.
The Vibe
There's no group schedule. You get a private room with a lock, and the rest of the house is shared: the kitchen, a downstairs lounge with velvet sofas and brick arches, a second lounge upstairs, the garden with its fruit trees, and the rooftop. The hosts sum it up as "community when you want it, quiet when you need it." When you want the centro, a combi from the barrio gets you there in about 10 minutes.
Tepoztlán's market is at its busiest on weekends, and a tianguis sets up near the house on Sundays from 8:00 to 14:00. Now and then the hosts put on events and post them on Instagram: game nights, music in the garden, a solstice festival in June and an autumn party in October.
Living in Tepoztlán, Morelos
Tepoztlán is a town in Morelos, about 80 km from Mexico City and roughly an hour and a quarter away by car. It sits below the Tepozteco cliffs. The El Tepozteco pyramid is up on top, and getting there means a hard climb of 40 minutes to an hour from Axitla.
NiDO is in Ixcatepec, a barrio 35 minutes' walk from the centro, or 10 minutes by combi. Combis leave every five minutes or so and cost 13 pesos. The barrio has its own bakery and café, a cecina place that opens on weekends, and a trail up Cerro Youalinchan that starts right there.
The town is busier on weekends, when the market is at its fullest. Pullman tickets to Mexico City often sell out on the day, so buy yours early if you're heading back to the city.
Climb to El Tepozteco
The climb starts at Axitla and takes 40 minutes to an hour. INAH announced in April 2026 that it would replace the access stairway, so check that the site is open before you go.
Sunday tianguis
A street market sets up near the house on Sundays from 8:00 to 14:00. The main market in the centro is busiest on weekends.
Cerro Youalinchan
A trail into the hills that starts in Ixcatepec. The hosts rate it moderate, about 40 minutes.

The Honest Briefing
There's no direct bus from Mexico City airport. Take a taxi (about US$115, roughly an hour and a quarter), or ride Metro Line 1 to Pino Suárez and Line 2 to Terminal Central del Sur (Taxqueña), then catch a Pullman de Morelos or OCC bus. Pullman takes about an hour, so allow around two hours in total by public transport. Ask your taxi for "Casa de la Cultura en Ixcatepec": the house faces it.
