Coliving in Bansko, Bulgaria
Four Leaf Clover · Established coliving complex in Bansko ski resort since 2008
The Home
Four Leaf Clover
Four Leaf Clover has been operating in Bansko since 2008, making it one of Europe’s longest-running colivings. An apartment complex with pool, game room, and gym in Bulgaria’s most popular ski resort — at prices that make Western Europe look absurd.
The Experience
Bansko is the budget nomad capital of Europe, and Four Leaf Clover is its most established coliving. Winter means skiing the Pirin mountain slopes. Summer brings hiking, mountain biking, and outdoor festivals. Year-round, the nomad community is large and active — coworking events, social gatherings, and a food scene that punches well above its weight class for a town this small.
The Space
An apartment complex with studios and one-bedroom apartments, swimming pool, game room, gym, and communal areas. The ski gondola and Bansko’s old town restaurants are within walking distance.
Who It’s For
Budget-conscious remote workers who want European mountain living at Bulgarian prices. Especially good in winter for skiers, and year-round for anyone who wants a large, active nomad community.

The Vibe
Morning coworking in the dedicated space, gym or pool session at lunch, afternoons for skiing (winter) or hiking (summer). Evenings are social — cheap dinners in the old town, drinks at a mehana (tavern), or game nights in the communal areas. The community is large enough that there's always someone up for something.
Ski days on Pirin slopes in winter. Summer brings hiking to Bansko's mountain huts, Banya hot springs, or day trips to Plovdiv and the Rhodope mountains.
Living in Bansko, Bulgaria
Bansko is the closest thing Europe has to a nomad town. A small ski resort at the foot of the Pirin Mountains, it's been attracting remote workers since the mid-2010s thanks to an almost absurd cost-to-quality ratio. A full meal with drinks costs €5-8. A month's rent for a studio is €200-350. And the surrounding Pirin National Park is UNESCO-listed.
Winter is the draw for skiers — the gondola runs from town to 2,600m, with 70km of runs. Ski passes are about €40/day, a fraction of Alpine prices. Summer transforms the town into a hiking base, with mountain hut trails, glacial lakes, and wildflower meadows accessible from the edge of town.
The nomad community is well-established, with multiple coworking spaces, regular meetups, and enough long-term residents that you'll find people to hike, work, and eat with immediately. The old town (Staria Grad) has traditional mehana taverns with live music and enormous portions. Sofia is 2 hours by car for flights and city fixes.
Pirin National Park
UNESCO-listed mountain park starting at the edge of town. Trails range from gentle forest walks to serious alpine routes past glacial lakes.
Bansko old town (Staria Grad)
Cobblestone streets, 18th-century houses, and mehana taverns serving grilled meats, shopska salad, and rakia. Dinner with drinks runs €5-8.
Banya hot springs
Natural hot mineral springs 5km from Bansko. Outdoor pools where locals soak year-round — entry is about 5 BGN (€2.50).
