Coliving in Jávea, Spain
Sun and Co. · The original Mediterranean coast coliving in a 19th-century house
The Home
Sun and Co.
Sun and Co. is one of the original coliving spaces in Europe, operating from the historic old town of Jávea on Spain’s Mediterranean coast since 2015. It occupies a beautifully restored 19th-century house and has built a reputation over nearly a decade for combining genuine professional productivity with the kind of community that keeps guests coming back — the return rate sits at around 20%.
What It Is
Sun and Co. brings coliving, coworking, and community together under one roof in Jávea, a small coastal town between Valencia and Alicante. The house can accommodate up to 15 guests at a time, with minimum stays of 14 nights, and the close-knit scale is deliberate — it keeps the group manageable and the relationships real. Sun and Co. won the Coliving Awards for Best Community and User Experience in 2021 and Best Coliving for Digital Nomads in 2022.
The Experience
A typical day starts at your own pace — a morning hike, a run along the coast, or breakfast with fellow colivers in the open kitchen. Work hours are structured but flexible, with dedicated focus zones and open desk space. Lunchtime skill-share sessions and afternoon breaks to the nearby beach are part of the rhythm. Evenings involve shared meals, professional workshops, wine, and whatever the week’s social calendar holds. The team structures light programming without making participation mandatory.
The Space
The house spans over 200 square metres of common areas including a living room, chillout patio, and open foyer. The coworking setup offers multiple zones — a focused area, an interior patio, and open desk space — all with high-speed internet. Private and shared rooms are available, with private rooms starting from around EUR 40 per day. The kitchen is a genuine shared space where a lot of the community interaction happens organically.
Who It Is For
Sun and Co. suits remote workers and digital nomads who want a productive working environment alongside genuine human connection. The 14-night minimum stay means guests arrive with enough time to settle in and build real relationships rather than passing through. The community spans professionals from all over the world — head of people ops, entrepreneurs, hedge fund investors, and developers — united by a preference for working smarter in better surroundings.
Location Highlights
Jávea sits on the Costa Blanca between the Montgó Natural Park and the Mediterranean Sea, offering hiking, kayaking, sailing, and beach access within minutes of the coliving. The old town is walkable, with local restaurants, markets, and the weekly tapa challenge. The nearby Cabo de la Nao headland and Cova Tallada sea caves are among the best coastal walks in the region. Alicante and Valencia are both under an hour away by car.

The Vibe
Mornings start at your own pace — a run along the coast, a hike up Montgó, or coffee in the shared kitchen. Work kicks in across the coworking zones from around 9, with a lunchtime skill-share or beach break to split the day. Evenings are shared meals, wine, and whatever social programming the week brings.
Weekends usually involve group hikes to Cova Tallada sea caves, kayaking along the coast, or daytrips to Alicante or Valencia. The weekly tapa challenge at local restaurants is a house tradition.
Living in Jávea, Costa Blanca
Jávea is a small coastal town wedged between the Montgó massif and the Mediterranean, about 90 km north of Alicante. It's not a digital nomad hotspot and that's part of the appeal — you get a real Spanish town with a weekly market, old-town tapas bars, and local life that doesn't revolve around laptop workers.
The weather is absurdly good: 300+ sunny days a year, mild winters, and summers tempered by sea breezes. The town has three distinct areas — the old town (El Pueblo) with its stone streets and churches, the port (Duanes de la Mar) with seafood restaurants, and the Arenal beach zone with a long sandy strip. Groceries at Mercadona run about the same as anywhere in Spain. Rent outside of coliving would be 700-1200 EUR for a decent apartment, but finding short-term lets in season is tough.
For remote workers, the main draw is the combination of low-key Mediterranean lifestyle with enough infrastructure to work seriously. There's no coworking scene to speak of beyond Sun and Co. itself, which makes the coliving the natural base. The pace is slow, the food is good, and the coast is genuinely beautiful without the overdevelopment of the southern Costa Blanca.
Cova Tallada Sea Caves
A coastal hike from Les Rotes beach to a massive sea cave carved by centuries of waves. Best visited early morning before the crowds.
Montgó Natural Park
A 753m peak with trails ranging from easy to scramble-grade. The summit views cover Ibiza on clear days.
Jávea Fish Market
The port's lonja sells the morning catch daily. Buy red prawns and cook them at the house — it's a local ritual.
