Coliving in Lisbon, Portugal

WiFi Tribe · Month-long coliving chapters for a curated crew of remote pros

Up to 20 guests Apr – Apr 2026 50+ Mbps Coworking Since 2014

WiFi Tribe

WiFi Tribe is one of the longest-running coliving programs for remote professionals, running month-long chapters since 2014. Each chapter brings together a curated group of 15 to 25 remote workers who live, work, and travel together in a new destination, with the whole experience coordinated end to end — no apartment hunting, no coworking day pass negotiations, no figuring out local SIM cards alone.

What It Is

WiFi Tribe runs pop-up coliving chapters where a vetted group of professionals spend a full month together in a new country. The format is deliberately different from drop-in coworking or hotel-based remote work setups: the group is chosen to ensure a productive, interesting mix, and the commitment of a full month gives relationships time to develop into something real. Members can join multiple chapters per year and benefit from loyalty discounts as they accumulate trips.

The Experience

A typical WiFi Tribe chapter involves structured coworking hours during the day and a social programme in the evenings and on weekends — group dinners, local excursions, city tours, hiking, market visits, and spontaneous adventures that emerge when you put 20 curious people in a new place together. The balance between professional focus and social energy is one of the program’s defining qualities: the people who join are serious about their work, and serious about making the most of being somewhere new.

The Space

Accommodation is arranged in a shared house or apartment building suited to the destination, giving the group a private home base rather than a hotel floor. Coworking is set up on-site or at a nearby space with reliable high-speed internet. The logistics — housing, workspace, basic local orientation — are handled before arrival so members can step into the chapter without the administrative friction of setting up from scratch.

Who It Is For

WiFi Tribe works best for experienced remote workers who are comfortable with the nomadic lifestyle and want a ready-made community of peers to share it with. The maximum of 20 guests per chapter keeps the group close-knit, and the curation process filters for professionals who are genuinely good company. Monthly pricing starts at EUR 1,300 and scales with destination cost of living, with all logistics included. The loyalty model rewards members who return for multiple chapters with progressive discounts.

Location Highlights

WiFi Tribe chapters cover a wide range of destinations across Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa, rotating through several locations simultaneously. Current active chapters include Lisbon, Portugal — a perennial favourite among European nomads for its climate, coastline, and density of remote worker community events — and Medellín, Colombia, where the combination of spring weather, affordable living, and a fast-growing creative and tech scene has made it one of South America’s most popular base camps for location-independent professionals.

Each chapter includes a coworking setup — either a private space within the accommodation or access to a vetted local coworking. WiFi is tested before each chapter launches.

The Vibe

Mornings are work-first — the group settles into the coworking space by 9 and the atmosphere stays focused until lunch. Afternoons are more flexible, with some people exploring the city and others pushing through deep work. Evenings rotate between group dinners, local bars, and spontaneous plans that 20 people in a new city tend to generate.

Weekends are for excursions — hiking, beach trips, market visits, or day trips to nearby towns. The chapter manager usually coordinates one or two organized outings, but the best stuff often happens when smaller groups split off to explore.

Living in Rotating Global Destinations

WiFi Tribe doesn't have one home — it runs simultaneous chapters across 4-6 destinations at any given time. The current rotation includes Lisbon and Medellín, two of the most established nomad bases in the world, but past chapters have covered everywhere from Cape Town to Buenos Aires to Chiang Mai.

Lisbon is a perennial pick for European chapters. The city has a deep remote worker scene, especially around LX Factory and the Santos/Cais do Sodré corridor. Apartments in the center run 1000-1500 EUR/month if you're hunting solo, which makes the WiFi Tribe chapter price competitive once you factor in coworking and the social infrastructure. Weather is mild year-round, the food scene punches way above its weight class, and it's a 2-hour flight from most European capitals.

Medellín sits at 1500m elevation in the Aburrá Valley, which gives it spring-like temperatures year-round (22-28°C). The Poblado and Laureles neighborhoods are the main nomad zones, with coworking spaces, gyms, and restaurants within walking distance. A solid lunch costs 10,000-15,000 COP (about 2.50-4 EUR), and monthly living costs outside the chapter run 1000-1500 EUR total.

Lisbon's LX Factory

A converted industrial complex full of independent shops, restaurants, and the famous Ler Devagar bookstore. Sunday brunch here is a chapter tradition.

Medellín's Comuna 13

Once the most dangerous neighborhood in the city, now a street art gallery and symbol of urban transformation. Go with a local guide.

Sintra Day Trip (Lisbon)

Fairy-tale palaces and Atlantic cliff views 40 minutes from the city by train. Pena Palace at sunrise before the tour buses arrive.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time here, made a lot of wonderful friends! The neighborhood is not the best but it's no big deal, the community areas are nice, but most of all you come here for the friendships. People are close and are all friends and hang out together. Would recommend!

We've been doing this since 2014 because we believe the people you travel with matter more than the destination. The chapter model gives you both — a great place and a great crew.

Common Questions

What's the WiFi like?

50+ Mbps minimum. Every chapter location is tested for internet speed before launch. If the accommodation WiFi isn't good enough, the chapter includes access to a nearby premium coworking.

What's included in the price?

Accommodation, coworking access, local orientation, community programming, and chapter management. Meals and flights are not included.

How does the application process work?

You apply online with a short form about your work and travel background. WiFi Tribe curates each chapter to ensure a good mix of professions, nationalities, and personalities.

Can I join for less than a month?

No — one full month is the minimum commitment. This is intentional. Shorter stays don't give people enough time to build real connections with the group.

What if I want to join multiple chapters?

That's encouraged. Returning members get loyalty discounts, and many people do 3-4 chapters per year. The alumni network spans over 1,000 people across 90+ countries.
